A group of stargazers will be congregating on the Hackberry Trail Overlook in Anahuac National Wildlife Refuge on Saturday, December 15th from 6-10 PM to watch the heavens and its constellations in the heart of Chambers County. Join these knowledgeable astronomers, who will be sharing their telescopes for all to look through, for a fun evening of pointing out planets, stars, constellations, and maybe even a satellite. The best way to see stars is away from the ambient light of the city, and then the thousands of stars just pop! This is a free event for the whole family.

The Hackberry Trail Overlook is just a 1/2 mile south of the visitor information center/bathrooms at the entrance to the refuge, about 3 1/2 miles south from the turnoff at FM 1985. Please dim your car lights once you pass the visitor information center, and park along the road. Bring a flashlight to help guide your way to the boardwalk entrance and to the overlook.
For more information, contact Stephanie Martinez at Anahuac National Wildlife Refuge, (409)267-3337. On the Anahuac National Wildlife Refuge map, FM 1985 is the same as Whites Ranch Road. The blue flag is the Visitor Information Center/bathroom area. PLEASE MAKE RESERVATIONS, SO YOU CAN BE NOTIFIED IN CASE OF CANCELLATION (DUE TO WEATHER), AT (409)267-3337.
